Houston Texas on November the 6:th in 1938 as James Marcus Smith. My school mate Harry had a big brother playing in a band. Harrys big brother loaned me the record with "Hold on to what You got". Harry was excited about the West Side Story film songs like "Maria" and "Somewhere" . Harry and his brother where frantic Elvis fans they taught Proby looked a lot like Elvis except Proby wore a little ponytail. Pepe Willberg made a cover version from "To make a big Man Cry" ( Saat Miehen Kyyneliin) a smash hit in Finland This Proby rebel ripped his pants (accidentaly) on stage in 2 consecutive concerts and was banned from the media (before it became a trademark) On those days the different high schools arranged teenager dances "I'll go Crazy" was played very often |
