P.J Proby 75: th aniversary   2013

Born  in Houston Texas on November the 6:th in 1938 as
James Marcus Smith.
My school mate Harry had a big brother playing in a band. Harrys big brother loaned me the record  with "Hold on to what You got". Harry was excited about the West Side Story film songs like
"Maria" and  "Somewhere" . Harry and his brother where frantic Elvis fans they taught  Proby looked a lot like Elvis
except Proby wore a little ponytail.
Pepe Willberg made a cover version from "To make a big Man Cry"
( Saat Miehen Kyyneliin) a smash hit in Finland
This Proby rebel ripped his pants (accidentaly) on stage in 2 consecutive concerts and was banned from the media (
before it became a trademark)

On those days the different high schools arranged teenager dances
"I'll go Crazy" was played very often
P.J Proby is a man with a magnificent voice. And some recordings are also properly arranged.
P.J Proby is not a main stream artist and has never gained the regognition he truly deserves.
Sometimes You get the feeling that Proby is three different persons changin his incredibly
flexiple voice in different songs. But anyway You can hear his sincere commitment and
strong compassion in each song.
